Big Shack Attack?
By kirk noonan | June 2, 2008
The Shack, a book that has soared to the top of best-selling lists, has intrigued readers, given hope to would-be novelists, amazed the publishing world, and riled a few theologians along the way with its treatment of the Trinity.
Here are a few facts Simple Plan has discovered about The Shack.
- In late May the book debuted #1 on the New York Times bestseller list.
- Eugene Peterson, author of The Message, expressed his feelings for The Shack this way: “When the imagination of a writer and the passion of a theologian cross-fertilize the result is a novel on the order of The Shack. This book has the potential to do for our generation what John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress did for his. It’s that good!”
- In April The Shack had risen to the #6 best-selling book in store at Barnes and Noble.
- Some Christian leaders are not pleased with the handling of theology in The Shack regarding the Trinity.

Hi Kirk,
read a story by you in TPE this morning. Saw your blog address and stopped by to see if you had an email address here. Guess not, so I’m posting a comment. Interesting review of the Shack. I also reviewed that for The Christian Pulse. I’d love to have you check out my latest novel - starring the son of a AG pastor. It is called Reforming the Potter’s Clay and is a magick versus miracles novel which goes after Harry Potter and Pottermania.
Take care!
